Volterrex LED Tripod Balloon Light

The Volterrex LED Tripod Balloon Light Puts a Fresh Spin On Tower Lights

Around here, we definitely love our tower lights. They throw a ton of light and offer a wide range of adjustability, so you can direct light right where you need it most. Well today, we’re taking a look at the Volterrex LED Tripod Balloon Light, and from the look of things, this light is far from ordinary!

  • Multiple mounting options
  • Remote control
  • Self inflating balloon diffuser

Using The Volterrex LED Tripod Balloon Light

Volterrex LED Tripod Balloon Light
  • Max Light Output: 19,500 lm
  • Color Temperature: 5000K
  • Ingress Rating: IP42
  • Power Cord Length: 15 ft.
  • Remote Control Range: 100 ft.

Light Output

Right off the bat, I have to admit that the Volterrex BL-150-G1 puts off a truly impressive amount of light…19,500 lumens to be exact! It casts a 5,000K daylight beam that provides up to 8,000 square feet of coverage, roughly a 50-foot radius. Thanks to the self-inflating diffuser balloon, it delivers comfortable and clean glare-free light you can actually work around without the blinding intensity of most LED work lights. Additionally, the diffuser eliminates any possible artifacts or distortions from the beam.

Volterrex LED Tripod Balloon Light Tripod Adjustments

This style of light is incredibly useful for indoor and outdoor applications. Using the kitted 7-foot tripod, I set this light in the middle of our 2,000 sq-ft shop and was able to fill the entire room with light. Granted, there were a few shadows due to some equipment and shelves, but overall, there was more than enough light to safely navigate around obstacles.

Output Modes

Volterrex LED Tripod Balloon Light Remote

This light features 10 brightness settings, as well as a pre-set half-power and full-power mode located on the remote. It’s worth noting that the remote is required to activate this light, there is no onboard power switch. For me, this is a small hangup to an otherwise impressive work light. However, if the remote is ever lost or damaged, replacements are available from Volterrex.

Mounting Options

Mounting Options

There are several ways to mount this light depending on your situation. As the name suggests, this light mounts directly to the kitted tripod, allowing you to position the light high above your work area.

C-clamp mount

Additionally, this light comes with a C-clamp and an eye bolt, allowing you to hang the light wherever you need it. Unfortunately, since the power cord is on the bottom of the light, you can’t set it flat on its base.

Removable Diffuser

Diffuser

One handy feature of this light is the removable diffuser balloon. If it ever gets dirty, or simply needs to be replaced, just loosen the plastic collar around the base of the light and pull the cover up over the top.

Volterrex LED Tripod Balloon Light Price

The Volterrex BL-150-G1 kit retails for $449.99 and is currently available from Amazon and Lowe’s, and is backed by a 3-year factory warranty. The kit includes the light, C-clamp, eye bolt, tripod adapter, safety cable, a remote, and storage bags for the light and tripod.

The Bottom Line

The Volterrex LED Tripod Balloon Light hit nearly all the key features we look for in a work light. It has excellent light output and its 360° design eliminates the need for multiple lights to illuminate a room. While there are a couple of design elements I would change, I’d say that its impressive light output makes up for any possible shortcomings.
