Here in central Florida, we’ve already been in the 90’s for over a month and the hot, humid summer is establishing itself. To combat the sun’s rays, I’ve been wearing the Truewerk B1 Performance Tee. My wife, Rebecca, has also been wearing one so she can give you the low-down from a lady’s perspective.

Truewerk B1 Performance Tee Review – What They Say
The B1 starts with a 50Dx50D 100% full dull polyester and puts it together using an interlock knit. The exception is the Heathered colors which use CD polyester instead while maintaining the other characteristics.
The result is a 120-gram lightweight, breathable, and sweat-wicking shirt to regulate your body temperature that carries a UPF 50+ rating. It features a true 4-way stretch and is both abrasion and tear-resistant.
Additional highlights include:
- Locker loop
- Drop tail
- Two reflective eye sights and a reflective logo
From Truewerk’s Website:
“We wanted to provide a base layer that was anything but basic. Designing this tee meant perfectly blending performance characteristics like being light on weight but heavy on sun protection.”
Truewerk B1 Performance Tee Review – What We Say
Kenny
My technical gear frequently pulls double duty. During the workday, I’m testing tools and working on projects. When those take me into the full summer sun, I crave comfortable gear. Off the clock, I enjoy fishing out in Tampa Bay, cycling, hiking, and a variety of other outdoor activities. Any workwear that can perform in more than one of those environments is a big win in my book.
What I love most about this shirt is how lightweight and breathable it is. Florida’s humidity can be ridiculous and anything that aids in evaporative cooling is a plus. When you add in daily threats of rain, I need something that dries quickly as well. The B1 Performance Tee fits the bill and wears just as light (or maybe even lighter) than Truewerk’s Cloud Shirt.
I ordered a large and found the fit to be dead on. I’m a little softer around the middle than I was when we were first introduced to Truewerk, but the large size still has an excellent fit. The range of motion the shirt offers is outstanding. From setting screws overhead to fly fishing from the front deck of our boat, there’s no restriction in movement whatsoever.

It’s great having a work shirt that’s actually cut for a woman’s figure. I was torn between going with the small or the medium and played it safe by going with the medium size. The medium offers a comfortable fit and plenty of length when I’reaching overhead. If it’s the only layer I’m wearing, it’s great. On days I need to layer, the small would be a better bet, though. If you’re on the fence about sizing, keep in mind how you’ll wear it. Go up if you’re not layering and go down if you are.
One thing I’d like to change is for the neckline to move a little further down in the front. An inch would do it. The way the shirt sits across my shoulders, the front collar is right against the base of my neck. It’s not choking me, but I prefer to have it closer to the top of my collarbone.
The material is really comfortable and I like how easy it is to move across my entire range of motion. It’s also really breathable, so air flows easily to help keep me cool and sweat wicks away quickly.
Truewerk B1 Performance Tee Review Price
In both the men’s and women’s designs, the short-sleeve Performance Tee is $34 and the long-sleeve is $39. Compared to other dry-fit shirts I wear from outdoor brands, the price is lower and the quality is just as high.
For the men, the short sleeve shirt has 6 colors to choose from: Ice Blue, Viz Orange, Dark Heathered Gray, Black, Gray, and Heathered Olive.
The long sleeve shirt has the same colors except for Gray.
On the women’s side, both the short and long-sleeve versions have 4 colors: Ice Blue, Viz Orange, Dark Heathered Gray, and Black.
The Bottom Line
If you’re looking for a lightweight shirt to keep you cool in the hottest temperatures, we highly recommend the Truewerk B1 Performance Tee. It’s crazy-comfortable, offers outstanding UV protection, and helps you manage sweat and moisture, all while giving you an outstanding range of motion whether you’re on the job or on the bay.
