Last week Ridgid released a new series of PEX crimpers. The Ridgid Close Quarters ASTM F1807 PEX Crimp Tools (model #43853 and #43858) have handle openings that are roughly 70% smaller than standard PEX crimp tools. The idea is that contractors will be able to maneuver the tool into tight spaces—a situation that is not uncommon in residential and small commercial plumbing jobs. The tool is available in both ½” (43853) and ¾” (43858) sizes, so they’re perfect for both potable water and radiant heating applications. The tools feature glass-filled polycarbonate E3 handles (which on other tools we’ve found to be both strong and grippy). They also feature a handy built-in “Go/No-Go” gauge that folds right into the handle. An adjustable lock screw mean you can also easily calibrate the crimpers when needed.

These are made for use with ASTM F1807 copper crimp ring PEX tubing connections, and you can find them at just about any Ridgid dealer in the US or Canada. As you’d expect, they come with the Ridgid Lifetime Warranty against Material Defects and Workmanship.
The Ridgid Close Quarters PEX Crimp Tools are a nice addition to an already decent PEX crimping line-up. Ridgid’s current crimpers handle ASTM F1807 PEX from ½” – 1″ sizes and they also have battery-operated Press Tools with PEX jaws that will tackle ½” – 1-¼” connections.
Pricing hasn’t been determined, but for reference, the standard PEX crimpers go for around $132 each.
