Knaack recently introduced Knaack Tool Kage Jobsite Cabinet Solutions, a new line of jobsite storage solutions that provide both visibility and security with see-through, locking cabinets. The Tool Kage line includes three products: the 139-MT, 129-MT, and 100-MT, each outfitted with the patented Knaack Watchman IV security lock, an electrical power pass, electrical pass-through in each shelf, diamond-punched 16-gauge steel panels, a fully arc-welded steel body, and powder coating. Optional 6-inch wheel casters and door shelves are available.
“Maximum security against theft and efficiency on the jobsite are both critical. Our new line of innovative Tool Kage storage cabinets allow workers to quickly locate and grab the tools and supplies they need without searching the entire storage unit.”
– Sang Oh, Senior Product Manager at Knaack
Our Take
We don’t know one tradesman who hasn’t had tools stolen or, euphemistically, just walk off. It’s a shame, but often locking them in a trailer isn’t enough to protect them. And once they’re gone, so is the tradesman’s livelihood, at least temporarily. But for large, multi-day jobs, unpacking and repacking everything into the truck isn’t practical or even possible, so jobsite storage solution provider Knaack has introduced the three-product line of Knaack Tool Kage Jobsite Cabinet Solutions. As you can see the “Kage” moniker is appropriate, as the 16-gauge diamond-punched walls create a very cage-like cabinet with the benefit of visibility.
The cabinets differ in capacity, power cord access, and access design, with the 100-MT opening like a book while the 129-MT and 139-MT are cupboard-style. We think they’ll keep your tools safe from theft but it’s clear that these are for indoor use – the visibility they provide also leaves tools exposed to the elements. The ability to charge batteries while the cabinets are locked is excellent, and there’s no doubt the big, optional casters make mobility on concrete simple. Of course, highly-motivated thieves might find it easier to wheel off your entire Kage with them. So if it’s a major concern, perhaps the most secure way is to bolt it to the floor through the steel feet.
We love storage and security, so combining them is a close second behind the tools themselves. If you really think about it, it’s too bad these security measures are necessary, but since they are, it looks like Knaack has done a fine job designing them. Here’s to organization when you’re on the jobsite – and to a good night’s sleep when you’re not!
