What Milwaukee Has To Say About It
“By leveraging our leadership in cordless and LED technology, we’ve been able to provide flood lighting solutions that deliver on the durability, performance, and portability that halogen lights have historically failed to achieve. Not only does the new M18 Rover Mounting Flood Light build on this offering by replacing halogen work lights, it’s also the most versatile flood light to-date. Adaptable to almost any lighting situation through its rotating light head design, integrated magnets and a tool-free mounting mechanism also allow it to mount to any surface, on any site, for any task.”
-Jason Isaacs, Product Manager for Milwaukee Tool
Milwaukee M18 Rover Mounting Flood Light Highlights
Versatility is the name of the game with the Milwaukee M18 Rover Mounting Flood Light. The new work light features a 2″ spring-loaded clamp, allowing it to clamp to ladders, carts, lifts, and more. Because of the larger capacity clamp, the flood light can attach to piping, lumber, and door frames.
It also includes a magnetic base that allows the user to mount the flood light just about anywhere metallic. It has a holding strength of over 25 lbs and can stick to any ferrous surfaces, such as ductwork, electrical boxes, and steel studs.
The new Milwaukee Flood Light also features a rotating, folding head, allowing quick and easy light direction without having to actually move the light itself. The rotating head has 5 different positions, allowing the user to point the light in multiple angles and directions depending on his particular needs.
It delivers up to 1500 lumens of bright, LED light, and can run up to 31.5 hours with the Milwaukee RedLithium High Demand 9.0 Battery Pack. As part of the M18 platform, any of Milwaukee’s M18 batteries will work, you’ll just get the most out of the HD pack. The M18 Rover Flood Light features Milwaukee’s TrueView technology, which is optimized to provide a consistent beam and a 5000K true representation of colors.
Milwaukee constructed the casing from a durable, high-impact, polycarbonate lens and a rubber over mold. It can survive drops from up to 9′. It also has an IP54 rating, so water and dust ingress shouldn’t be much of an issue on the jobsite. Milwaukee also designed the M18 Rover Flood Light with a tie-off zone in case you’re working from height and need to tether the light.
Final Thoughts
Milwaukee has been on a tear with all the lighting solutions they’ve been putting out on the market. By all accounts, the quality of their lighting products has been pretty good, and we don’t expect this new release to throw us any curveballs in the quality department. The TrueView lights have a nice, neutral tone that doesn’t mess with our ability to correctly identify colors. We did see a little yellowing in the personal lighting from Milwaukee, but the throw here is wide enough that it shouldn’t be an issue.
The run times on this flood light are pretty good, even with the 5.0Ah battery pack. Plus, with the IP rating and the construction, I don’t feel like I would need to worry too much about this flood light getting banged up.
The Milwaukee M18 Rover Mounting Flood Light comes with a limited lifetime LED warranty. It also comes with a 5-year warranty on the product. It will be available for purchase in this month and retail for $99.
