Cordless reciprocating saws can be hit or miss. To get a lot of work done you’ve got to go corded, but with the newer, power-dense battery packs coming to market, cordless recip saws might just be making a comeback. Take the Panasonic EY45A1LS1G 18V kit. It not only ships with two 4.2 Ah batteries, it also supports dual voltage and is compatible with both 18V or 14.4V pack technology. The saw is also compact, measuring just over 18 inches long and 8-1/4 inches tall. The high-torque motor supports a nice long 1-1/8″ stroke length at 2800 SPM that should make demo work much easier. About the only downside with the Panasonic EY45A1LS1G 18V reciprocating saw kit (aside from the fact that it’s difficult to locate) is that the new batteries can take up to 80 minutes to charge.
The Panasonic EY45A1LS1G 18V reciprocating saw kit retails for $460 and, assuming you can find it, the saw should be a force to be reckoned with if it compares well to other cordless Panasonic tools we’ve reviewed in the past.
