Hitachi has announced a new line of corded rotary hammers. They have features you’d expect like vibration reduction and durable motor housing, but with one key difference – they’ve packed a brushless motor inside. What good does that do for the Hitachi AC Brushless Rotary Hammer lineup?
It’s an interesting question considering we normally see brushless motors added to cordless tools. The benefits are nearly identical. There are no carbon brushes to replace, the motor runs cooler, longer lifespan, and greater power. Additionally, the electronic control required to run a brushless motor can pull double duty to optimize the tool’s controls as well. We just won’t see extended run time as a benefit.
Each of the new Hitachi AC Brushless Rotary Hammer models have a few things in common. Hitachi’s Aluminum Housing Body (AHB) surrounds the motor and supports a plastic stator holder. An integrated inverter circuit ensures stable use with generator and reduces the risk of damaging internal components.
Some of the Hitachi AC Brushless Rotary Hammer models also feature User Vibration Protection (UVP) to reduce the amount of vibration that reaches the operator. Internally, a counterbalance and springs offset vibration. Combined with a shock absorbing handle, the system significantly reduces the amount of tri-axial vibration transfer.
