DeWalt has a new music player coming out this October. The DeWalt ToughSystem Music Player and Charger is a big step forward for the company’s jobsite entertainment category. As the name suggests, the new Music Player (DeWalt DWST08810) can connect to Dewalt’s ToughSystem storage solutions. This makes a lot of sense for getting on and off the jobsite easily.
The design of the DeWalt ToughSystem Music Player is the real story. It features 6 speakers: 4 full range tweeters, a passive subwoofer, and an active subwoofer. The relatively flatter housing design is intentionally created to allow full 360 degree sound. According to DeWalt, the new system delivers “premium quality sound that compares to the leading music players on the market today.” Even though Clint DeBoer got a chance to see the Music Player at DeWalt’s media event, they didn’t give them the chance to experience the sound quality. We’ll have to wait to tell you how well they back that claim up.
For actually playing music, you’ve got three options. Find your favorite radio station, connect any device using the auxiliary port, or connect via Bluetooth. The DeWalt ToughSystem Music Player also offers charging for your 12V/20V Dewalt battery packs or USB devices. You’ll be able to run the system from an AC outlet or by using your 12V/20V batteries. Because DeWalt expects you to have this on the jobsite, they designed it to meet IP54 ratings for dust and water.
