Hilti showed us their newest breaker at World of Concrete earlier this month. The Hilti TE 1000-AVR Breaker is now in it’s second generation. It’s now boasting some advantages over the first model that should translate into a better user experience. If you’ve had the pleasure of using concrete breakers in the past, you already know about the aggressive nature of the tool and the abuse it has the potential to transfer to the user.
The second generation Hilti TE 1000-AVR boasts more power than the previous model at 19 foot pounds. It’s also running 230 volts over the previous 120 V. Features from the original that made it popular are still around including the brushless motor and AVR (Active Vibration Reduction) technology.
One of the improvement that users will really appreciate is the power cord. Hilti recognized that it was one of the most frequently replaced parts on the original TE 1000. Now it is quickly removed and replaced so that field repairs can take place in a matter of minutes. They’ve also updated the ergonomics on the handle making for a more comfortable grip.
When you combine the Hilti TE 1000-AVR with Hilti’s new TE-SP Wave Chisel, you can expect performance improvements up to 50%. The Wave Chisel features a wave design in the chisel body as it moves up the shaft. This helps to improve debris removal, reduce dust production, and reduce sticking or breaking in material.
Clint DeBoer got his hands on the Hilti TE 1000-AVR at World of Concrete. He came away impressed with the updates in this second generation!
