Most seasoned woodworkers know that random orbit sanders beat the socks off of any vibrating or palm sander and Delta just released their new 5” and 6” random orbit sanders! These new versions have 22% more power than the outgoing models. With the improved motor design, it should be easier to maintain speeds under load and also achieve a up to what Delta claims is a 13% higher maximum speed. With the stronger motor there is a much higher level of overload protection which means you can sand and sand to your hearts content!
Both of these tools feature random orbit that will give swirl-free sanding action. Each sander includes either a 5” or 6” (depending on which one you get) proprietary counter balance for use with the sanding/polishing pads. There is a two-position, left or right side, removable side handle for greater comfort and control. The motor and drive train have 100 percent ball and roller bearing construction to ensure that this tool will be in your collection for a long time. On the back end of the tool, there is a dial that give you your variable speed control. There are several different versions and kits available:
