Freud added a couple more high-performance Diablo reciprocating saw blades to its line this week, including a Freud Diablo flush cut blade and a Freud Diablo pruning blade. These are two new specialty blades that come in 9-inch or 12-inch lengths and promise to take care of nail-embedded wood as well as fast and smooth cutting of wood (alive or “dimensionalized”)
Both blades are bi-metal, which means the teeth are made of high speed steel and are bonded to high-strength carbon steel. The Freud Diablo flush cut blades include product numbers DS0194AFC and DS1214AFC and feature a flex body height for flush cutting. Like the new Freud Diablo Demons of Steel blades they also use a unique tooth configuration that alternates the gullet between every other tooth to deliver a smoother cut while reducing vibration . Diablo also claims the design and construction of the blade will deliver up to four times the cutting life of a standard bi-metal blade. Like Diablo’s other reciprocating saw blades these new Freud Diablo Flush Cut Blades use the company’s Perma-Shield non-stick coating that reduces heat, gumming and corrosion. It’s like Teflon for your saw blade…just don’t cook on it.
Not to let nail-embedded wood have all the run, Diablo upped its game by introducing two new Pruning Reciprocating Saw Blades as well, also in 9-inch and 12-inch lengths (product numbers DS0905FG and DS1205FG). These are also bi-metal construction and feature a dual deep-gullet design separated by a row of four shallower gullets for what looks to be a good combination of aggressive cutting and speed. All of these blades feature:
- Precision fleam (perpendicular angle) ground teeth for super fast cutting in wood materials.
- A hardened cutting edge for long and durable cutting life.
- Bi-directional tooth design for fast and smooth cutting in both directions.
- Deep-seated gullets for easy chip removal and fast cutting.
