We might be in Florida, but that doesn’t mean we’re biased against snow blowers! We got our hands on the Greenworks Pro 60V 22-inch snow blower for a little hands-on time. Not to worry, we’re sending it up to Tennessee where we’re hoping they get another good snowfall to get some snow blowing in before the season is over (sorry, Tennessee).
You have some installation to do when you open the box. It’s not a terribly complex process and only takes about 10 minutes. The only parts you assemble are the handle, chute, chute direction lever, folding cams, and a cable clip. You just need a Phillips head screwdriver to help out.

Improvements Abound
Controls
The controls are very simple and familiar if you’re used to a battery-powered lawn mower. Press the safety button down and pull the bar to get the belt-driven impeller started. Release the bar when you’re ready to shut the brushless motor off.
There’s a chute direction lever on the side of the control box. Just push or pull it to direct the chute 90º to the left or 90º to the right for a full 180º of motion. That’s a change from the last model that uses a bar coming up the middle that you shift left or right.
Power Source
Moving down to the battery compartment, there are two active ports—a change from the single port on the 20-inch version. The snow blower only needs one battery to operate, giving you additional runtime if you use two batteries. The system automatically switches batteries when the first depletes, leaving you to continue working uninterrupted.

Chutin’ Snow
You can change the angle of the throw at the top of the chute. It has a ratcheting motion that lets you push it to a more downward angle. Push the spring-loaded release to bring it back up. The pivoting area of the chute feels like it can use reinforcement to strengthen it up a bit. Wetter, heavier snow may force it to flex some.
LED Lights
Two banks of LED lights brighten up space in front of you. They’re sufficiently bright enough to handle nighttime blowing if you’re up before the sun to clear your driveway and sidewalk.
It’s an improvement (in my opinion) over the handle-mounted LEDs on the 20-inch model. It puts the lights closer to the ground in front of you and it won’t bounce any glare off of the housing back at you.
More Snow Blowing Power and Capacity
Inside the 22-inch x 13-inch front opening, rubber paddles attach to a steel impeller. These are replaceable parts. You’ll need to replace the rubber more frequently, of course, but if you live in an area that uses a lot of salt, it’s good to know you can swap out the impeller when the time comes.
When it comes to power, the Greenworks Pro 60V 22-inch snow blower spins the impeller up to 1800 RPM and is capable of throwing snow up to 30 feet. That’s a pretty big improvement over the previous 20-inch model that only has a 20-foot throw. It only has a 10-inch height, so you’re moving a lot more snow in each pass with the new one.
Pricing
With a pair of 4.0Ah batteries, you’re looking at $599. If you’re already using Greenworks 60V products for your lawn care, you can have them stay in service for the winter and pick up just the snow blower for $350. Lowe’s is a great spot to pick them up.
