Greenworks 60V Blower BL60L2510 Review

PTR Review
  • Pro Rating 8.4

The Greenworks 60V Blower complements the rest of the system beautifully. It balances power and weight well, making it a blower that's easy to use for anyone in the family with the power to do the job.  It's a no-brainer for post-mowing cleanup and the 2.5Ah battery gives you enough runtime to hit your hard surfaces or blowing leaves in a small yard. Plan on moving up to a 5.0Ah pack or grabbing a second battery if you need more runtime for blowing fall leaves.

Overall Score 8.4 (out of 10)

Greenworks 60V Blower Complements System Beautifully

The Greenworks 60V OPE system is one of the most well-rounded in their lineup. We’ve been using this system for a couple of years and really like it for general homeowner use. Like most of the line, the Greenworks 60V Blower balances weight and performance and we want to know how well it fits in today’s landscape of cordless blowers.

Pros

  • Reasonably lightweight with a 2.5Ah battery
  • Competitive price point
  • Solid blowing force

Cons

  • No major drawbacks

Performance

Most handheld blowers are now in line axial fan designs and Greenworks is no different. This style allows the fan to pull air in directly behind it and push it straight out. It’s a more efficient way to move air than bending around a tube.

On paper, this Greenworks cordless blower can reach wind speeds of 140 MPH with an air pressure rating of 540 CFM. While some models are pushing more, these are still respectable. The true story is told in Newton force, though.

Using Turbo, we measured up to 14.6 Newton meters of force from the Greenworks 60V Blower. As of right now, the most powerful battery-powered blower on the market is cranking out 18.2 N. So, Greenworks is shy of that mark, but so is almost everyone else.

Compared to where most cordless blowers are, that’s still a solid number, though. It was good enough for 4th in our shootout a while back and only cordless backpack blowers seem to be making headway on that group.

Features

The Greenworks 60V Blower features a brushless motor that the brand has engineered to supply more power, torque, and runtime while keeping the noise level down (incidentally, we recorded this one at 89 dB(A)).

It also features a variable speed trigger with cruise control. With the variable speed, you can adjust your power from 250 CFM to 470 CFM. That lower setting is great when you’re blowing light dust and dirt out of your shop, but you’re going to want high speed for moving leaves off your lawn.

To hit the 540 CFM mark, you can mash down on the turbo button. Overusing this will blast through your battery power, but it’s nice to have the extra power when you need it.

Runtime

We tested the Greenworks 60V Blower with the 5.0 Ah battery rather than the 2.5 Ah battery that comes with the kit. At wide open throttle (not Turbo), we managed just over 31 minutes. Greenworks claims that you can achieve 45 minutes on the 2.5 Ah battery on the low setting.

That’s in line with what we expect from that kind of battery capacity and plan on 15-ish minutes if you’re using the 2.5Ah battery. If you have a small lawn or you really just need a blower for post-mowing cleanup, that 2.5 Ah battery is enough. Consider moving up to 5.0 Ah battery or having a spare on hand if you have a larger lawn that requires frequent fall leaf blowing.

Weight

With a 5.0Ah battery, the blower weighs a pretty reasonable 9.7 pounds, right on par with most other cordless handheld blowers. Take it down to the 2.5Ah battery and you have a blower that’s on the lightweight side of the spectrum.

Pricing

The Greenworks 60V Blower retails for $199 at Lowe’s. It comes with a 60V 2.5Ah battery and charger. The tool comes with a 4-year warranty, and the batteries have a 2-year warranty.

Here’s where some of the other guys in the 60V range:

*The EGO 530 CFM blower is on sale for $179 at the time of writing.
