Our Take
There are several points of interest worth discussing on the new DeWalt 40V Max Pole Hedge Trimmer – the first being run time. DeWalt tells us that you can expect nearly 90 minutes of full speed cutting with their 4.0 amp hour battery pack and more than 3 hours with the 7.5 amp hour pack. That’s impressive. Keeping the batteries topped off with the new 6-Pack Charging Station should give you all the run time you need.
The telescoping handle ranges from 45 inches to 70 inches (trigger to first tooth) to give you plenty of height adjustment while the shoulder strap clips in to keep the tool stable. That’s helpful with a the weight shifting forward thanks to the head-oriented brushless motor.
The full 1-inch cutting capacity is nice to see and adjustable head angle is a must when it comes to proper shaping of plants that are out of reach with DeWalt’s 40V Max Hedge Trimmer. We’ll have to wait until early next year before we can come to any conclusions on performance and ergonomics, but this is a smart addition for DeWalt as they’re looking to capture the attention of commercial lawn crews.
