The new Milwaukee 2455-22 M12 Cordless No-Hub Coupling Driver Kit is specifically designed to quickly install no-hub couplings with accuracy and repeatability. With specific torque settings for 60 and 80 in/lbs, this is the first tool of this kind in the industry. The No-Hub Driver has the ability to fasten up to 300 clamps on a single charge and it is supposed to be accurate for up to 25,000 clamps before it needs to be recalibrated.
Milwaukee M12 Cordless No-Hub Driver Features
In the box, the Milwaukee M12 Cordless No-Hub Driver 2455-22 kit includes the Milwaukee 2455-20 Driver, three Shockwave sockets (1/4”, 5/16”, 3/8”), two M12 Lithium-ion battery packs, a 30-minute quick charger, and a heavy duty carry case. The Milwaukee No-Hub Coupling Driver is constructed in the same fashion as all the other tools in the M12 line, with tough ABS plastic main bodies that are covered in black rubber overmold. The overall size and operation is very similar to the 2450-20 Milwaukee M12 1/4″ Hex Impact Driver that we have already reviewed. The biggest differences are that the No-Hub Coupling Driver has a collet that can be rotated to the proper max torque setting and speed. Also built into the back of the tool is an LED readout light that alerts the user as to when the proper torque has been reached. There is also an indicator that will flash when the tool is ready for re-calibration which is supposed to be after about 25,000 clamps. To add to the overall usefulness of the tool, there is a drill mode that ups the speed of the motor which makes drilling and other fastening operations faster.
We were excited to see this tool added to the other Milwaukee M12 plumbing trade related tools that came out last year that include the M12 Copper Tubing Cutter and M12 PVC Shear. Given the ever expanding product line of the M12 series of tools, most tradesmen will quickly appreciate the compact size, ease of portability and the over all power that these tools represent.
Conclusion
Usually the proper installation of no-hub couplings involves a few different hand tools and adapters that vary from t-wrenches to torque wrenches. Now with the introduction of the Milwaukee 2455-22 M12 Cordless No-Hub Coupling Driver, plumbing tradesmen can quickly and accurately torque no-hub couplings in a single step. We really think this tool represents innovative technology at work which, in the long run, will boost productivity, reduce user fatigue, and ultimately increase your bottom line.
