Skil Expands PWRCore 40 OPE Lineup with a 12-inch Top Handle Chainsaw

The Skil TH1200C-11 features a brushless motor that drives max speeds of 16 m/s. Skil tells us it has the same power as a 27cc gas engine thanks to the brand’s PWRCore 40 battery technology.
This tool is the brand’s first designated top-handle chainsaw. Top-handle models are ideal for cutting tree limbs and branches at height thanks to their lightweight design that enables one-handed use. As such, Skil equipped it with a 12-inch bar and chain to keep things light and compact.

The kit includes a 40V 2.0Ah battery, which adds around 1 pound to the total weight for a balanced experience. It’s also compatible with any of Skil’s PWRCore 40 batteries, so if you’re after more runtime and don’t mind the weight trade-off, you can hook up a battery with a larger capacity (sold separately).
Other convenience features include an auto-oiler, as well as a tool-free chain tensioner. For added durability, it’s also weather-resistant with an IPX4 rating.
