New Ryobi 40V Battery Toppers to Beat the Heat and Light the Night

New Ryobi 40V Battery Toppers

Ryobi Adds New Battery Topper Lifestyle Solutions to Expanding 40V Platform

Ryobi is no stranger to offering practical lifestyle solutions, but we usually see those tools on the brand’s 18V One+ or USB Lithium platforms. Now, there are two new 40V compact tools to look out for on Home Depot shelves: the 40V Battery Topper Fan and Battery Topper LED Light. I’m looking at both models to show you how to get more value from Ryobi’s 40V batteries.

Beat the Heat with the Ryobi 40V Battery Topper Fan

  • Model: Ryobi RY40CF01B
  • Max airflow rate: 260 CFM
  • 3 speed settings
  • Max runtime: 166 hours (with 12.0Ah battery)
  • Multi-directional pivoting head
  • USB-C port
  • 2-by metal hanging hook

The RY40CF01B fan is powered by a Ryobi 40V battery. It has three speed modes, reaching top airflow levels of 260 CFM on the highest setting. A single power button controls the fan’s speed, letting you toggle between high, medium, and low.

Ryobi tells us this fan can run for up to 166 hours (just under a full week!) on the lowest speed using a 12.0Ah battery. However, it goes without saying that you won’t get these runtime estimates if you opt for a smaller-capacity battery.

I like that the 40V battery provides a solid base for the fan to rest on that’s ideal for flat surfaces. If you prefer at-height cooling, you can also use the metal hanging hook that lets you attach it to 2-by surfaces. In either case, a multi-directional pivoting head lets you adjust the airflow direction.

Finally, this fan can also be used to charge your mobile device thanks to a USB-C port. Keep in mind that this extra power pull will affect the fan’s overall runtime.

Should You Buy It?

I’ve had this fan on my desk since we got it in the shop (about two weeks ago at the time of writing), and it’s still going strong with a 4.0Ah battery with fairly regular use. I keep it on the lowest speed setting, which delivers surprisingly powerful airflow for such a compact fan. Whether you’re gearing up for a pool day or you want to keep the air moving in a muggy shop, this fan is worth considering if you’re on Ryobi’s 40V platform.

Light the Night with the Ryobi 40V Battery Topper LED Light

  • Model: Ryobi RY40WL01B
  • Max brightness: 1000 lumens
  • 4 brightness settings
  • Max runtime: 11 days (with 12.0Ah battery)
  • Multi-directional pivoting head
  • USB-C port
  • 2-by metal hanging hook

Ryobi’s second battery-topper addition to the 40V lineup is the RY40WL01B LED light. It features four brightness settings, letting you toggle between 100 lumens (ultra-low), 300 lumens (low), 600 lumens (medium), and 1000 lumens (high).

Using a 12.0Ah battery on the lowest brightness setting, this light will run for up to 11 days straight. This is a big advantage for things like emergency weather preparation, or to keep in your car in case of a bind.

Like the battery-topper fan, this light rests right on the 40V battery (sold separately), which provides a nice robust base for setting it on flat surfaces. It’s also equipped with a metal hanging hook that lets you hang it from 2-by material.

Additionally, you can set your light angle with its multi-directional pivoting head. This allows up to 300° rotation and up to a 120° pivot.

Finally, like the fan mentioned above, this LED light also has a USB-C port for powering your mobile devices.

Should You Buy It?

The battery-topper design of this light is as simple as it is unique and effective for delivering light wherever you need it. 1000 lumens is also a pretty impressive feat for a light this compact. For those who are already on the 40V battery platform, this battery topper light offers a sub-$40 solution for dimly lit jobsites or workshops.
