Ryobi Adds Two Pruning Chainsaws to the 18V One+ Lineup
If your property has a lot of trees, chances are your chainsaw gets a lot of hours in. When it comes to smaller pruning jobs, though, a more compact tool can make things a whole lot easier. Enter the Ryobi 18V Mini Pruning Chainsaw, which comes in two different bar sizes (6-inch and 8-inch). We’re looking at how this battery-powered option can replace your heavy-duty chainsaw for light trimming applications.

Ryobi 18V One+ 6-inch Pruning Chainsaw

The smaller of the two new models, the Ryobi PCLCW01 pruning chainsaw has a 6-inch bar and chain, giving it a cutting capacity of 4 inches. It’s lightweight, weighing just 3.9 pounds with the 2.0Ah battery included in the kit.
Using the same 2.0Ah battery, Ryobi tells us this tool performs over 50 cuts per charge, which is more than double the ability of the brand’s previous 6-inch iteration.
For design details, this pruning saw features a variable speed trigger and tool-free chain tensioning. It also has a chain guard and a guarded handle, which keep you safe in the event of kickback.

The Ryobi PSBCW01 pruning saw has a bar and chain length of 8 inches, giving you the ability to cut branches up to 6 inches in diameter. It weighs just 4.3 pounds with the kitted 2.0Ah battery, with which you can achieve over 65 cuts per charge.
For context, Ryobi’s previous 8-inch pruning chainsaw can complete up to 23 cuts per charge using the same battery. The new model has the potential to achieve over 3X that amount, providing more productivity and less downtime.
Like the 6-inch model mentioned above, this tool features a variable speed trigger, as well as a chain guard and guarded handle to protect against kickback.
Ryobi 18V Mini Pruning Chainsaw Price
The 6-inch model retails for $99 as a bare tool and $129 as a kit, including a 2.0Ah battery and charger. The 8-inch model retails for $149 as a bare tool and $179 as a kit, also including a 2.0Ah battery and charger. Both models will be available starting in early 2024.
