Ryobi Puts A Different Spin On Cleaning Chores

Brushes are a necessity for cleaning, but what if there was another way? Or better yet, a cordless way? Getting your hands on a Ryobi cordless power scrubber may be the answer you’re looking for. Heck, it may be the answer even if you weren’t looking for one.

Ryobi 18V Cordless Power Scrubber Models

For the 18V One+ battery system, there are three key power scrubber models you need to know about. Each one meets specific needs, so you may want to get your hands on more than one.

The nice thing is that in addition to using the same battery, they also use the same heads so you can easily swap them based on what your needs are at that moment. It’s a simple fit—just match up the brush with the interface and twist it to lock it in place.

Also, note that all of these scrubbers have sealed battery compartments. Water and electricity don’t mix, but water and cleaning do. With an IPX7 ingress rating, you can do the cleaning without worrying about the power source.

Finally, each one has a lock-on switch, making it easier to focus on cleaning than holding down the trigger.

Ryobi 18V Cordless Handheld Power Scrubber

Ryobi 18V Cordless Handheld Power Scrubber

Starting with the smallest model, Ryobi has a handheld version that’s great for cleaning at arm’s length. The head rotates your brush at 210 RPM and has impressive torque when you’re leaning in to help the bristles clear out build-up.

While there are a ton of different applications for this model, I use it the most for cleaning coolers and cutting boards after fishing trips.

The Ryobi P4510 starts at $69.00 for the bare tool and there are a ton of kit and combo options to choose from.

  • Model: Ryobi P4510
  • RPM: 210 RPM
  • Ingress Rating: IPX7
  • Bare Weight: 2.7 lbs.

Ryobi 18V Cordless Telescoping Power Scrubber

Ryobi 18V Cordless Telescoping Power Scrubber

Extending the concept, Ryobi adds a telescoping handle and pivoting head to create a power scrubber with greater reach. The addition of a front handle helps with control and to apply some pressure to the head on stubborn areas.

To adjust the length of the shaft, you simply loosen the collar above the front handle, extend or retract it to the length you want, and tighten the collar back down. The head pivots by pressing a button on the side to release it. When you find the angle you want to work with, move the head a little until the detent pops back into place and locks.

Thanks to a range of lengths up to 51 inches, it’s great for cleaning high and low. Most folks should be able to reach up to 9 feet high without much trouble. Some tasks are obvious, such as cleaning the exterior of your house, your boat, or your RV. Think outside the box with the different heads that are available, though. For us, this model is a rock star on shower tile and grout in the bathroom.

Like its smaller companion, the telescoping model is available as a bare tool or kit, plus a range of combo options.

  • Model: Ryobi P4500
  • RPM: 210 RPM
  • Water Ingress: IPX7
  • Bare Weight: 4.6 lbs

Ryobi 18V Cordless Soap Dispensing Power Scrubber

Ryobi PCL1701B

The most comprehensive power scrubber starts with the foundation of the telescoping model, makes it more robust, adds a garden hose connection, and adds onboard soap dispensing. A dial on the side gives you options for soap + water, water only, and both off. A positionable nozzle on the top handles applying the liquids.

Harsh chemicals such as bleach are out, but glass cleaner, car wash soap, and other mild chemicals are fair game. That makes the Ryobi PCL1701B the most versatile option for exterior cleaning of your home and vehicles.

Specifications

  • Model: Ryobi PCL1701B
  • RPM: 210 RPM
  • Water Ingress: IPX7
  • Bare Weight: 7.5 lbs

The Bottom Line

Think about the number of times you’re cleaning with a brush in your hand. Whether it’s a handheld or stick brush, there’s a Ryobi cordless power scrubber to replace it. Thanks to a wide range of swappable heads, they really can cover nearly every brush you own and they do an excellent job. Just not your toothbrush or your hairbrush. Ryobi isn’t replacing those… yet.
