LAKELAND, FL – Citing years of frustration with wading through legal documents and manufacturer caveats on product specifications, Pro Tool Reviews took a proactive stance this week by officially trademarking the asterisk®. The registered trademark includes both the written form of the word asterisk® as well as the *® symbol.
“Now, every time a manufacturer wants to disclose anything in a press release or make any particular claims regarding a specification by using an asterisk®, they have to pay us money. That should really improve the industry as a whole. It will cut down on unnecessary wording and disclaimers and help tool companies cut right to the chase,” said Pro Tool Reviews editor-in-chief, Clint DeBoer.
“Pro Tool Reviews wanted to make licensing of the asterisk® affordable for tool manufacturers. I mean, we were funded to the tune of $6 trillion dollars overnight simply from estimated revenues from the legal industry. As a result, we immediately allowed certain manufacturers to utilize our asterisk® on 20V MAX* and PSI MAX* products at no charge.”
After receiving the registered trademark for the asterisk ® from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and having successfully trademarked Game-Changer® in 2021, Pro Tool Reviews filed additional trademarks and applications for “a global leader™”, “power tool™”, “innovation™”, and the letter “e™”.
