Rockler is introducing a new product designed to help keep you at the lathe longer and spend less time sharpening. The Full Size Rockler Carbide Turning Tool features a carbide disk that stays sharp longer than traditional steel blades. As the exposed edge gets worn down from use, simply loosen the screw, rotate the blade, tighten it back down, and get back to work.
“These Full Size Carbide Turning Tools make large turning projects much easier,” says Steve Krohmer, Rockler’s Vice President of Product Marketing. “The handles are designed to give the turner lots of leverage and control, while providing a comfortable grip to reduce fatigue on the hands and wrists.”
The full size tool (two other sizes are also offered) is 19-1/2 inches long with a 13 inch ash handle and 6-1/2 inch shaft. The carbide cutting blade is roughly 0.60 inches in diameter. There are four options to choose from in regards to the head – Round (48723), Square (49318), Diamond (49632), and Square Radius (48535). Each tool retails for $99.99 and replacement heads are $19.99.
