Panasonic introduced an ‘aircon’ app to the iPhone that allows users to simply enter some basic details about their room and the app will tell you what air conditioner is best for your needs. The application also includes information and videos on air conditioning technologies. Once you have worked out the air conditioner you need, the app will even show you the location of your nearest Australian dealer, and show you a map on how to get there!
Wait, did we say Australia? Yep. This app is specifically designed for Australians, and it’s also designed for single room units, not whole-home central heat and air applications. Seems that in the rest of the world, on-wall units are more common then the bulky, complicated central units that we favor here in the US. With so many options, it’s not surprising that an iPhone app is a good way to help weed through the mess.
Panasonic is hoping that retailers will use it as a sales tool to ensure they provide the customer with the best model for their home. It even takes into account the presence of insulation, room size and the direction of windows in the home. To help you ID the right product, the app even displays a product image and the key benefits and features of the results.
Incidentally, Panasonic air conditioners use an ‘Inverter Technology’, that reduces electricity bills by helping the air conditioning unit reach the desired temperature faster than other units, and is constantly on to decrease energy wastage.
