It’s been a while since the excellent Home Improvement TV sitcom graced the airwaves. While Tim Allen is on route towards debuting a brand new sitcom this Fall, some of us consider Home Improvement to be a very special show that brought tools into the limelight of the living room in a way never before accomplished. For those of you living under a rock (or just under age 30), the show featured Tim Allen as “Tim Taylor” a power-tool-obsessed family man and star of the program “Tool Time,” along with loyal companion Al (Richard Karn) and an attractive “‘Tool Time’ girl” (first Pamela Anderson, then Debbe Dunning). At home, Tim’s family was played by Patricia Richardson, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Zachery Ty Bryan and Taran Noah Smith. Earl Hindman also co-starred as the wise, and only ever partially seen, neighbor Wilson.
Home Improvement DVDs
The DVD (there is no Blu-ray announcement at present, which we found odd since you can barely find DVD-only players anymore). The DVD has a ton of extras, which include:
- Audio Commentary from the show’s co-creators and executive producers Carmen Finestra and David McFadzean
- Loose Screws – A hilarious compilation of the biggest laughs
- Tim’s Tool Corral – Tool Time girl Debbe Dunning presents the funniest moments
- Tim Allen Presents: The Home Improvement User’s Guide – Tim Allen and Richard Karn host a live reunion special
- Bloopers
On top of that, the entire series comes in a bold collectible red toolbox with an exclusive Binford all-in-one tool (not sure we will have a review on that one anytime soon)!
