This one is going to be short and sweet – at least until we can try one out for ourselves. The new DoorSaver II is an ultra-low-profile hinge replacement that serves as a door stop or protector. It limits the open swing of a door by integrating a stop right on the hinge itself. Specifically, the design replaces the hinge pin to create bumperless protection for doors and trim. DoorSaver II is simple to install, looks great and stays in place without “working up.” The design is bumperless, which eliminates damage to doors and trim. Anyone who has used a traditional hinge-based door stop can attest to the molding divots that frequently appear after long-term use.
The DoorSaver II Hinge features a true ultra-low profile and comes in seven finishes, including Chrome, Antique Brass, Oil Rubbed Bronze, Antique Nickel, Satin Nickel, Bright Brass, and Flat Black. The DoorSaver II installs in literally seconds and there are no tools required besides the hammer and awl/screwdriver needed to remove the exiting hinge pin (the DoorSaver II is designed to work with most residential standard hinges).
About the only thing left to note is that the hinges are made from strong carbon steel and only cost around $5 each. Considering the aesthetic appeal and the potential to save countless pieces of trim molding, the DoorSaver II Hinge is one of the better and more ingenious hardware products we’ve seen in the past year.
