Lawn & Garden tools have traditionally been classified as either gas-powered or electric. Now, however, the advancements in battery technology have led to a new generation of cordless lawn & garden tools that are causing us to take a serious second look at the technology. In particular, Craftsman seemed very excited to announce its C3 line of cordless lawn & garden products at this year’s International Builders Show. Featuring an interchangeable 19.2 volt rechargeable DieHard battery, Craftsman C3 lawn and garden products can now fit right alongside the rest of your C3 powered line of Craftsman tools.
The heart of the Craftsman lawn and garden tools C3 platform is the 19.2 volt compact DieHard battery, which Craftsman has made available in both NiCad and Lithium-ion formats. Either technology provides enough power for most consumer applications, but clearly lithium is where the longevity lies – and it particularly well-suited for optimal recharging at any time. The C3 uses an interface that’s common across the Craftsman family of tools. That means the battery is interchangeable with many Craftsman power tool products you may already own. The Lithium-Ion batteries charge in about one hour or less and, contain an indicator that turns from Red-to-Green, showing the battery’s energy level when fully charged.

Craftsman C3 Line Trimmer
The Craftsman C3 Line Trimmer (#CR2000) provides 12 in. of cutting width for wide area coverage. It features auto line feed with .065” single trimmer line and a fold down edge guard for cutting perfection. An adjustable trimmer head and shield allows the user to adjust the angle of cut for trimming on uneven terrain and, for performing vertical bed and sidewalk edging. Other features include a telescoping shaft that is adjustable to accommodate the individual’s height, a multi-position D-handle for comfort and control, a battery charge indicator that’s visible in daylight and, an ergonomic power handle. When used with a 19.2 volt DieHard Ni-Cad battery, the Craftsman C3 String Trimmer delivers approximately 20 minutes of run time, and if used with a 19.2 volt DieHard Lithium-Ion battery, run time can increase up to 20 percent. Craftsman C3 Blower
The Craftsman C3 Blower (#CR2100) is great for cleaning up walkways, stairs, decks, garages and other areas where leaves and debris accumulate. The C3 Blower delivers up to 140 mph of air velocity through a concentrator nozzle. Other features include a contoured blower tube that is great for reaching underneath decks, cars and other hard to get to places, a single-position trigger lock-on switch, battery charge indicator and padded handle grip for single or dual hand operation. The blower/sweeper weighs less than 5 lbs. When used with a 19.2 volt DieHard Ni-Cad battery, the Craftsman C3 Blower delivers approximately 20 minutes of run time, and if used with a 19.2 volt DieHard lithium-ion battery, run time can increase up to 20 percent. Craftsman C3 Hedge Trimmer
The Craftsman C3 Hedge Trimmer (#CR2600) is a robust part of the Craftsman lawn and garden tools line and features 22 in. hardened steel dual-action blades and up-to a 1/2 in. cut capacity. This combination provides the power, length and clean cutting capability that’s appreciated by dedicated homeowners. The battery powered C3 Hedge Trimmer comes with an ergonomic handle and trigger grip, as well as, a contoured wrap-around front handle and front handle guard. Other features include a trigger lock and battery charge with charging indicator. When used with a 19.2 volt DieHard Ni-Cad battery, the hedge trimmer has approximately 30 minutes of run time, and if used with a 19.2 volt DieHard Lithium-Ion battery, run time can increase up to 20 percent. Craftsman C3 Chain Saw
A cordless chainsaw??? Yep. The Craftsman C3 Chainsaw (#315.34130) provides the necessary power needed to tackle jobs around the yard. It is lightweight, compact and starts with a simple pull of a trigger. The chainsaw is simple to use and offers a push button oiler to keep the chain on the 10″ blade lubricated. This isn’t going to be a tool you’ll want to tackle professional jobs with, nor is it rated for continuous daily use – but still, in terms of convenience, this has us amazed. Other features include a convenient oil window so the level is visible at all times, a safety lock trigger and overmold on the handle to reduce user fatigue and increase comfort. The Craftsman C3 Chainsaw is available fully assembled, with a 19.2 volt Ni-Cad battery and charger and retails for $129.99.
