COAST POLYSTEEL is a new lineup of rugged folding knives and flashlights that they unveiled at the National Hardware Show earlier this month. The POLYSTEEL line is designed to be used on job sites and in areas where they are likely to encounter less than ideal treatment. In addition to their impressive LED Rechargeable Flashlights, COAST is showing that they are committed to making some of the best and toughest products on the planet.
COAST POLYSTEEL Knives
Some knives are designed to be show pieces, others functional for everyday use. COAST designed the POLYSTEEL Knives to work in harsh environments where others are afraid to get their nails, er, liner locks dirty. The blades are made from 9Cr18Mov steel. This particular steel rates high on the hardness scale, meaning that it will hold its edge longer than softer varieties.
The handles are made from a co-molded hard nylon fiberglass inner frame and is coated with a non-slip Thermo Plastic Rubber (TPR) outer layer. In addition to allowing a secure grip in wet situations, the outer layer also provides cushioning for all day comfort. Both knives feature a back lock mechanism ensuring that the blade stays in place following deployment.
The BX300 has a 3 inch blade and a total length of 7-1/8″ deployed while weighing only 1.6 ounces. The BX315 is slightly longer with a 3-1/4″ blade and total length of 8-5/8″ deployed. It weighs in at 3.6 ounces.
COAST POLYSTEEL LED Flashlights
The POLYSTEEL LED Flashlights are designed to waterproof, crush proof, scratch proof, and drop proof. In short, you’d be hard pressed to find a way to break one of these! Each light features COAST’s Pure Beam Focusing System and Twist Focus light technology. Three of these nearly indestructible models are available: PS5, PS7, and PS14 with the only difference being their relative sizes. Their steel core is wrapped in a molded polymer coating giving them durable characteristics.
COAST LED Rechargeable Flashlights
Many rechargeable flashlight require a base station that they have to be mounted on or plugged into to ensure charging. COAST’s new rechargeable LED products feature an innovative micro USB charging system that plugs in anywhere you have an outlet or USB port available. What’s even better is that the battery is removable and can be charged independently of the flashlight. Taking it one step further, COAST provides 2 of the rechargeable batteries, so you can always keep a spare charged up and on hand. On the off chance both batteries need charging, the lights also run on standard alkaline batteries. Here’s a basic run down of what’s available:
