Ever want to design a race kart (go-cart) with cordless power tools? That’s the premise behind the college-focused Bosch’s Cordless Race Championships. In the Philippine leg of the Cordless Race, students hailing from eight of the country’s brightest engineering schools and universities are coming together to test out their latest creations in May. And what exactly are they testing? Well, the students have designed and constructed racing karts that are powered by Bosch cordless lithium-Ion drills. The time trials are going to be held at the Boomland Kart Track which is located inside the CCP Complex in Pasay City. Since this is a bit of an international contest, the winning student will be able to participate at Beijing in the final race in September.
Among the teams competing in the one-day event are the UP ME Drill Drivers from the University of the Philippines-Diliman, Team RTU of Rizal Technological University, and Team Siklab of Mapua Institute of Technology. The very first Bosch Cordless Race Championships were held in Shanghai last year and featured 14 different teams from colleges and universities all over China. As the event was found to be extremely popular, it prompted organizers to also run regional contests in the surrounding countries of Thailand, Malaysia, South Korea, and the Philippines this year.
