It seems like everybody’s getting into the game with portable LED work lights. The latest to hit the market is a company called 3ST Industry. They unveiled some all-purpose LED work lights with a rechargeable Li-ion battery power pack. Why is this even news? The product is made in Taiwan and you’ll probably see it show up in various iterations around the tool world if you look close enough. The more we observe trends from the manufacturing plants, the more we can anticipate those features getting momentum from the economy of scale process and making major manufacturing tools more versatile and inexpensive.
For this tool, the high power 3W LEDs are long-life, ultra bright, and of course mercury free, rated up to 100,000 hours. Do the math and you get 11.4 operating years at 24 hours a day/7 days a week. That’s not bad at all. As more and more companies try to get on board with complying to greener energy efficient policies, LED work lights will grow more diverse and powerful – and costs will come down for LED models.

The work lights feature a rechargeable Li-ion battery so there’s no memory accumulation. Lithium ion’s high energy density also minimizes battery size and weight, making it perfect for use in small portable equipment like this. The cell is made in Japan and has built-in protection circuitry and a red light that indicates when it is charging. A smart universal AC/DC charger supports 100-240V full range AC input, and a car charger is also included, making this an excellent solution for emergency roadside use. Each model is available with 1 or 2 battery packs.
The foldable body features an ergonomically designed grip that is rubber coated; and the tool is water-proof up to IP65 industrial grade. It’s impact/shock/splash resistant and you can place it just about anywhere with its retractable 360-degree swivel hook and powerful magnetic base for attaching to metal surfaces.
