Milwaukee M4 Screwdriver 2101-22 Preview

Milwaukee is apparently committed to developing a whole new line of 4V cordless tools that use the company’s brand new RedLithium 2.0 battery technology. The new screwdriver is just the first product, but it seems to be an impressive proof-of-concept, integrating both RedLink electronics and the new battery technology in one fell swoop.

Milwaukee M4 Screwdriver 2101-22 Features

Milwaukee says that their goal for the M4 line is to create a variety of super-compact tools that use the new M4 battery. Since we’re talking about new 2.0 cells, the M4 battery is basically a single cell—which makes for a lot of very compact options. The M4 Screwdriver looks to be a great product where run-time and compactness is needed, but torque is not. According to the company, the M4 driver will drill 200 holes in a single charge. While there were no specifics on the diameter or depth of those holes, I’m not sure my old 3.6V NiCad drill would have allowed the trigger to be pulled 200 times, let alone drill that many holes.

The new Milwaukee M4 Screwdriver has 44 in-lbs of peak torque and an almost overdesigned 21-position clutch that should offer near-limitless torque control when driving fasteners. The driver operates at two speeds, 200 RPM in low and 600 RPM in high. In terms of compactness, the tool is long and thin, measuring just over 9-1/2″ long and weighing just under a pound. The tool uses the same 1/4″ quick-change chuck as the M12 screwdriver, making it perfect for one-handed use.
