Milwaukee 1/2-Inch High Torque Impact Wrench Performance
- No-load Speed: 0-700/1300/2000/0-900 RPM
- Impact Rate: 0-1300/2200/2400/2400 IPM
- Max Torque: 1100 ft-lbs (fastening), 1500 ft-lbs (breakaway)
- Max Torque with Forge battery: 1200 ft-lbs (fastening), 1600 ft-lbs (breakaway)
- Anvil: 1/2-inch Friction ring
The Milwaukee 2967 features four drive modes that allow you to dial in the best speed and impact rate for your application. It has a max speed of 2,000 RPMs with an impact rate of 2,400 IPM. There’s also a bolt removal mode and an auto shut-off that add a little more versatility.
As you would expect, the first three modes are simply speed controls, but mode 4 pulls double duty. In forward, we have the auto shut-off mode that backs the RPMs down to 900 and applies no more than 50 ft-lbs of torque. This allows you to “hand tighten” your fastener without overtightening. In reverse, it delivers max speed and torque, but quickly backs down the RPMs once the bolt is loosened. This helps prevent it from spinning off and getting lost or causing potential bodily harm.
Milwaukee’s latest 1/2-inch high torque impact wrench shows off a truly impressive level of strength. With a standard XC5.0Ah battery, the Powerstate brushless motor delivers 1,100 foot pounds of fastening torque and 1,500 foot pounds of breakaway torque. However, when you pair it with the new Milwaukee Forge 6.0Ah battery, you get a slight boost in performance. The fastening torque and breakaway torque increase by 100 foot pound, bringing them to 1,200 foot pounds and 1,600 foot pounds, respectively.
Milwaukee 1/2-Inch High Torque Impact Wrench Design Notes
- Model: Milwaukee 2967
- Power Source: Milwaukee M18 battery
- Weight: 5.9 lbs. (bare), 7.5 lbs (with 5.0Ah battery)
- Head Length: 7.6 in.
- Tool Height: 9.5 in.
The Milwaukee 2967 impact wrench weighs 5.9 pounds as a bare tool and 7.5 pounds with the kitted 5.0Ah battery. It measures 7.6 inches from tip to tail, nearly a full inch shorter than its predecessor. This shortened design gives you greater access when working in tight spaces.
Even with the decreased head length, there’s no denying this is a big tool. That said, the batteries do a great job offsetting the weight of the motor and balance the tool nicely. The grip is draped in Milwaukee’s standard rubber overmold and is nicely contoured for a natural fit in your hand.
One small improvement we’re happy to see is the change from a single foot-mounted LED light to the Tri-LED light mounted around the anvil. It’s a minor detail, but it really makes a big difference in low-light conditions.
Milwaukee’s design improvements don’t stop with the tool’s head design. The 2967 features battery isolation technology that reduces the vibration transmitted to the battery pack. This ultimately reduces wear and tear on the battery and tool.
