Milwaukee M12 Handheld Sprayer Review

Milwaukee M12 Handheld Sprayer Makes Application Easy

From spray bottles to backpack sprayers, there are several ways to apply pesticides, herbicides, and the like. Most aren’t particularly convenient, but the Milwaukee M12 Handheld Sprayer has the potential to change your outlook.

Milwaukee M12 Handheld Sprayer Design

  • M12 power source
  • Onboard battery level indicator
  • 1- or 2-gallon tank
  • 7.2 pounds with battery
  • Swappable tank design
  • Shoulder strap compatible

Milwaukee’s design of the M12 battery-powered sprayers is absolutely brilliant. Available with 1- or 2-gallon tanks, these fit in the middle ground between spray bottles and larger backpack sprayers, such as Milwaukee’s highly-convenient M18 Switch Tank.

As a smaller unit, it makes sense that Milwaukee uses its M12 battery platform to keep the overall weight down. We’ve been using the 2-gallon unit and it weighs 7.2 pounds before adding any liquid (battery included). With a full 2 gallons on board, you’re looking at 23-ish pounds. Two tether points are available to add a shoulder strap if you like.

What makes the sprayer so fantastic is that the tank is 100% swappable with other 1- and 2-gallon tanks and they seal themselves off. If you’re on a landscaping crew and carrying liquid herbicide, pesticide, and fertilizer, you only need one powerhead. It’s just a matter of releasing two clips to remove the powerhead. Just remember you need to clear the line and wand of what you’ve been using to avoid putting down a bit of the wrong chemical.

Tanka and Powerhead

Using the Milwaukee M12 Handheld Sprayer

  • 3 modes
  • 20 – 80 PSI
  • 0.1 – 0.3 GPM
  • 17-foot max spray distance
  • Up to 80 gallons per charge
  • Cao doubles as a measuring cup
  • Debris filter

Using the sprayer is simple. There’s even extra convenience built in when you’re filling the tank. The cap doubles as a measuring cup with both ounce and milliliter markings to measure your concentrate. As we expect, there’s a removable/cleanable filter to keep debris from making its way in.

An M12 battery installs horizontally into the back of the powerhead. From there, press the power button to activate it and select mode 1, 2, or 3 to adjust the pressure from 20 – 80 PSI.

Controls

The wand has a simple trigger to release the flow and it can spray up to 17 feet in mode 3. Flow rates are from 0.1 – 0.3 GPM and you can adjust the nozzle to change the spray. There’s a safety lockout you can engage to avoid accidental spraying during transport.

When it comes to runtime, you can get up to 80 gallons on a single charge of the 2.0Ah battery that comes in the kit. That’s a lot of work for such a small battery.

If you need to stop spraying to attend to something else, the wand fits horizontally into the top handle. When it’s time to store or transport the sprayer, it clips in vertically along the side.
