Milwaukee Low-Profile Magnetic Task Light

Milwaukee Rechargeable Magnetic Task Light

Our tool arsenals contain loads of solutions – too many to list here, certainly. However, there’s one really important tool that we sometimes overlook. A task light. Whether you’re working in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or construction, having a dependable (and versatile) light source is critical. That said, you might want to consider Milwaukee’s Rechargeable Low-Profile Magnetic Task Light (2013R).

Here’s a look at the performance and design features of this model.

Milwaukee Magnetic Task Light Performance and Design

This unit runs on a built-in lithium-ion battery that utilizes a USB-C cable for recharging. You get about 4 hours on High (500 lumens), 8 hours on Medium (250 lumens), and 12 hours on Low (100 lumens) from a single charge. The three power modes give you some range to maximize either light output or runtime depending on your needs. You also get a green/yellow/red LED indicator of the remaining battery charge.

We like the low profile head that should help reduce shadows and increase visibility—particularly in tight spaces.

Perhaps Milwaukee’s magnetic task light’s most important aspect is the versatility of how you mount and use it. The actual light body of the 2013R is surrounded by an aluminum frame that includes magnets. Alternatively, you can “split” apart the frame to let you mount it to non-metal surfaces—much like a carabiner. Essentially, that gives you at least three options for displaying the light. The split-leg design lets you hang it from a cable or pipe, create a floor stand, or magnetically attach it to metal surfaces.
