Milwaukee Intrinsically Safe Headlamp | Ignition Proof

Milwaukee 2004HZL Headlamp Designed to Keep You Safe in Hazardous Conditions

Milwaukee just slated the Intrinsically Safe Headlamp for a July release. But, with that announcement, we realize that the term “intrinsically safe” might not be common enough parlance for most of us to grasp the importance of the 2004HZL headlamp. The sheer amount of Milwaukee LED headlamps yields a lot of options. This tool, however, tackles an entirely new area of focus.

Intrinsically safe lighting is low-powered lighting that is specifically developed to be incapable of causing ignition of the gas or vapors in certain hazardous environments.

For those of us that work in hazardous conditions, the Milwaukee Intrinsically Safe headlamp could be a real life-saver.

Companies that do any work in dimly lit, flammable gas and dust situations require intrinsically safe lighting. Traditionally, safety managers often had to compromise on quality to get lighting that passed the requirements for safety. The new Class I, II, and III / Division 1 Groups A-G lightweight Milwaukee headlamp throws 310 lumens of TrueView light output. It also sports a beam distance of 100 meters.

Keeping It Safe

OSHA has certified the Milwaukee Intrinsically Safe Headlamp a Class I, II, III/Division 1 light. This means that it’s safe to use in places where flammable gases, vapors, and liquids, as well as combustible dust and ignitable fibers, etc. may be present or airborne.

This means that OSHA has approved the Milwaukee 2004HZL for use in oil rigs and refineries, spray booths, vaults, gas dispensaries, grain silos, coal mines, paper, and textile mills, and the like.

Other Milwaukee 2004HZL Features

Powered by 3 AAA batteries, the Milwaukee 2004HZL ignition-safe headlamp can deliver up to 40 hours of runtime. It features five output modes, letting you manage the brightness, lighting pattern, and run time. Its pivoting head adjusts to any one of seven positions. With an IP64 rating, the light also resists dust and shrugs off moisture.

Milwaukee Intrinsically Safe Headlamp hard hat strap

Unique to the Milwaukee 2004HZL Intrinsically Safe Headlamp, the hi-viz yellow keeps you visible to others in dim conditions. It also features a combination of on-strap and on-tool identifications. Milwaukee tells us that you won’t currently find these features on other headlamps.

Milwaukee Intrinsically Safe Headlamp

Milwaukee includes two different straps so you can adapt the light to your specific needs. A standard nylon strap works well for your head. A rubber strap lets you slip it over a hard hat. It also comes with hard hat clips to keep it securely fastened. Finally, should you prefer the set-it-and-forget-it approach, Milwaukee includes a Dual Lock adhesive strip so you can straplessly attach the light to your hard hat.

Pricing

The Milwaukee 2004HZL Intrinsically Safe Headlamp hits shelves in July 2020. It retails for $79.97, and comes with the aforementioned nylon strap, rubber strap, dual Lock adhesive strip, AAA batteries, hard hat clips, and limited lifetime warranty.
