Save Time and Improve Accuracy with The Mileseey XTape1 Modular Digital Tape Measure
I have a small confession… as you may observe from our Best Tape Measure roundup, we don’t typically favor digital tape measures due to their iffy accuracy. Well, the folks at Mileseey reached out and explained that their innovative XTape1 Modular Digital Laser Tape Measure can blow that generalization out of the water and bring a few new features to the table. I asked a few questions, reviewed their website, and watched some videos. Long story short, I have one in my hands, and I’m excited to share what I’ve learned with you!
Like the Mileseey DP20 laser distance measure, the XTape1 functions as a device a bit ahead of its time. It flaunts an offering of features that might, at first, seem overwhelming. Bear with me, and I’ll walk you through everything.

Measuring Modes
- Traditional Tape Measurement: The internal 12-foot tape features all the markings you’d find on a traditional measuring tape. Plus, it has a large hook with an integrated magnet for taking measurements on ferrous surfaces.
- Single Length Measurement: The single length mode lets you take quick static measurements using the internal laser. Simply take aim and press either one of the blue arrow buttons, your measurement results will appear on the display.
- Continuous Measurement: This mode allows you to dynamically measure distances as you move relative to your target. The screen will display updated measurements approximately every 0.3 seconds, reducing downtime and speeding up production.
- Area Calculation: This function allows you to quickly calculate the area of a space using either the internal tape or laser. To take measurements, align the XTape1 and press either blue arrow button to lock in your distances. The perimeter lengths will be displayed on the screen, along with your total area in both square feet and square inches.
- Volume Calculation: The process for measuring volume is nearly identical to the area calculation, but there’s an additional measurement. Instead of just gathering the length and width, you’ll also need to add in the height. As with the Area calculation, the volume will be automatically calculated and displayed at the bottom of the screen. The values of the length, width, and height will be displayed above it.
- Stake Out: This function allows you to quickly and accurately map out waypoints during layout projects.
- Live Angle Display: The dynamic live angle display shows real-time angle changes as you rotate the device on any surface. It uses the green laser line as the reference and offers the most accurate and engaging angle measuring on any surface with real-time feedback.
- Point to Point: In this mode, the XTape1 calculates the distance between two points, your distance from the surface while taking the measurement, and the angle between the two points. The values of distances 1, 2, and the included angle will be displayed on the screen.
- Indirect Height: This mode allows you to capture the horizontal distance by measuring the hypotenuse of a right angle. The distance of the hypotenuse, the angle between the hypotenuse, and the horizontal distance will be displayed on the screen.
- Indirect Length: This mode lets you measure the vertical hypotenuse by taking readings at the top and bottom of your surface. The screen displays the values of the first and second hypotenuse and the angle between the measured points.
- 1/N Line Split Function: The split function mode lets you quickly identify specific intervals while taking measurements. Start by setting your desired split, extend the tape out, and once you’ve reached your mark, press the blue arrow to lock it in. Now, your splits will automatically appear on the screen, making it very easy to measure accurately.
Modular Design
One of the most notable features of this digital tape measure is the modular design. So, what does that really mean? Well, as we all know, tools are prone to wear and tear over time, especially on rugged jobsites. If you ever damage the blade, Mileseey offers replacements that simply click into place in a matter of seconds. This greatly extends its useful lifespan without the need to send the tool in for repairs.

The Xtape1 features a built-in 1500mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery that gives you around 7 hours of continuous runtime. Mileseey includes a USB-A to USB-C charging cord, but you’ll need to provide your own charging brick.
Accuracy
Mileseey designed the XTape1 with three adjustable laser reference points—Front, Center, and Rear. This lets you fine-tune your measurements, taking into account the line thickness and ensuring complete accuracy.
At its core, the XTape1 employs Mileseey’s Super OptiTracking reading sensor. This first-of-its-kind tape blade reading technology involves a vision-based identification process that captures the blade’s surface feature and converts it into usable data.

Smart Life App
