Trick Out Your Golf Cart with Michelin X Tweel Turf Comfort
Michelin actually brought their Tweel technology to golf carts and zero turn mowers several years ago. Now, golf cart and stand-on mower operators now have an even more comfortable option for worry-free tires. Michelin recently introduced a new version of its airless radial Tweel for golf carts—the Michelin X Tweel Turf Comfort. This replaces the standard 18X8.5N10 front and rear wheel for gas and electric golf cart users. It also adds even more comfort to existing Michelin Tweel options.

What is Michelin Saying About the New Tweels?
“Michelin developed the new Comfort version based on direct feedback from our customers. This version will allow them to enjoy all the benefits of the current Tweel with improved comfort and traction. This product will replace the current aesthetic version in our portfolio. We will continue to manufacture the utility version for utility golf carts that demand higher load capacity.
—Justin Brock, senior marketing manager, Michelin North America
What’s the Big Deal?
As you may already know, the Michelin X Tweel Turf Comfort uses no air, and therefore, it cannot go flat. Instead, it uses a system of high-strength, poly-resin spokes to carry the load and absorb shock. These spokes also reduce bounce to improve the overall level of comfort.
The redesigned Michelin X Tweels for golf carts include softer shear beam construction via the proprietary Comp10 Cable, which reduces stiffness and improves rider comfort. A multidirectional tread pattern provides excellent traction and side hill stability while helping prevent turf damage.
Editor’s Note: The proprietary Comp10 Cable technology allows the load to hang from the top, resulting in low contact pressure that more closely mimics the feel of air-filled tires.
The Michelin X Tweel Turf Comfort can reach a top speed of 25 mph while supporting a maximum load of 529 lbs. That’s a slight drop from the 705 lbs. load capacity of the original X Tweel Turf. Michelin will make the higher capacity tires avaialble for utility use, but plans to perform a rolling upgrade for those looking to outfit golf carts for use as passenger vehicles.
The X Tweel Turf Comfort continues to use a four-bolt pattern with a -0.4-inch offset and black center hub so that it can effectively replace golf cart tires and stand-on mowers that use a 18X8.5N10 tire size.
