One of the most difficult parts of doing a new roof (there are so many to choose from) is cutting away the shingles that you run over the side of the drip edge as you make your way up the roof. Typically you do this with a combination of hook or straight blades, depending upon whether you’re cutting from the front or backside of the shingles. Ridgid’s new Pneumatic Roofing Cutter sets out to provide a way to use the air line you’ve already got run to the roof and simplify a job that was previously quite tedious and which required several blade changes to accomplish.

We’re big fans of the inspection camera, having reviewed several on PTR. They allow home inspectors, plumbers, appraisers, HVAC technicians and electricians document and troubleshoot problems with an ease that was impossible before the advent of LED and micro-camera technology. Ridgid’s newest inspection camera, the micro CA-300 is the company’s next evolution of the microEXPLORER family. You can record both still images and videos of problems in hard-to reach areas and then share these findings with the RIDGIDConnect solution. On top of that, an embedded microphone means that you can also document your video with live commentary, so your notes are more complete.

I wouldn’t have thought that a shop vac would get me excited. After all, they are nothing new and have been helping do-it-yourselfers and professionals clean up jobsites for years. But, winter is here and I find myself engaging in a lot of clean-up around the house lately. After using a traditional shop vac for several years and suffering the poor ergonomic design of the vacuums in general, I was excited to see a new form factor hit the market. Ridgid has quite possibly redesigned the genre by producing their WD7000 Smart Cart vacuum that offers, among other things, complete accessory storage and increased maneuverability. This is a very new kind of shop vac – and it’s broken the mold.
