Manufacturer: Porter-Cable

Our Porter-Cable tool reviews mostly deal with the newer tools brought to market in the past decade. Porter-Cable tools were well-known as Pro-focused back in the day. Now, however, they take a more value-approach to consumers. Quite honestly, they have a branding issue as consumers seek to understand where they fit against other popular manufacturers. Our most recent Porter-Cable tool reviews include the Porter-Cable 20V Max 18-gauge brad nailer and the Porter-Cable 20V Max 16-gauge finish nailer. We also looked at the Porter-Cable 20V Max brushless drill & impact driver. While we liked these tools, there is a lot of competition in the marketplace. Porter-Cable Tool Reviews with Hands-on Evaluations The Porter-Cable tool reviews below cover just about every new and existing tool made by the company. Porter-Cable is a brand with lots of tools and a decent category of products. From recip saws and circ saws to drills, drivers, flashlights, and vacuums, there’s a lot to choose from.

Porter Cable PC18ID 18V Lithium Impact Driver Review

Porter Cable PC18ID 18V Lithium Impact Driver Review

Impact drivers are the new drill. While we don’t recommend them for actual drilling – not into hardwood, at least – the Impact Driver has become the go-to tool for most homeowners looking to reduce fatigue and stress when driving screws. The tools, like Porter Cable’s PC18ID 18V Impact Driver, are extremely compact as well – allowing for more maneuverability than many drills with standard chucks. At just under $80, it also presents itself as an incredible value – especially if you’re already in possession of the lithium-ion batteries and charger required to power this tool.

We don’t say that lightly, and we certainly were anxious to get to our performance testing – but in terms of sheer features and build quality, Porter-Cable really impressed us with their attention to detail and craftsmanship.

Porter Cable QuickJig 560 Pocket Hole Joinery System First Look

Porter Cable QuickJig 560 Pocket Hole Joinery System First Look

Porter Cable just announced the Quick Jig 560 Pocket Hole Joinery System. We don’t do a ton of these, but it actually looks to be very flexible and built like a tank, so you don’t have to worry about drift when using it repeatably over several pieces. In addition, the 560 has an automatic depth control system that allows for easy set up for different material thicknesses (up to 1-1/2″ thick). That means less setup time and a whole lot less computations on where you’re going to place your holes. There’s even a repeatable self-adjusting clamp that adjusts automatically. Variable spaced bushings allow a variety of positions for the pocket holes and a handy screw length gauge recommends the appropriate screw length for the material thickness.

Porter-Cable PCL120DDC-2 12V Compact Lithium Drill/Driver First Look

The 12 Volt MAX Compact Lithium 3/8″ Drill/Driver (PCL120DDC-2) features a single sleeve check with spindle lock, variable speed trigger, two-speed gearbox, and a reported 1,200 rotations per minute. Add to that an included belt clip that can be relocated on either side of the tool, a magnetic bit holder, an LED worklight, and two included batteries, a 30-minute charger, and a soft-sided case and the $90 price tag looks pretty reasonable. Pair it with the forthcoming Impact Driver (PCL120IDC-2) for a considerable savings.
