Makita Adds New Demo Hammers to Lineup
Joining the Makita lineup comes the HM1213C 23 lb. and HM0871C 12 lb. demolition hammers. Both of the Makita Mid-Size Demolition Hammers sport Anti-Vibration Technology, which provides a counterbalance to take the sting out of these inherently violent tools. They also possess several motor protection features to keep the tool running longer and without damage.

AVT Anti-Vibration Technology
In addition to using a Makita AVT counterbalancing mechanism, the new additions to the Makita Mid-Size Demolition Hammers line also feature a vibration-reducing handle to further knock out any felt vibrations.
This is important considering the HM1213C AVT Demolition Hammer and HM0871C Demolition Hammer both crank out some serious impact force. The larger hammer features a 14-amp motor that delivers 18.8 ft.lbs. of impact force. The smaller of the two hammers features a 10-amp motor that delivers 8.6 ft.lbs. of force.
Both models accept SDS-Max bits, with 12 bit angle settings that let you set the bit to where it’ll be the most helpful and convenient.
Makita Mid-Sized Corded Demo Hammers Shared Features
Both the Makita HM1213C and HM0871C Mid-Size Demolition Hammers feature a variable speed dial to match the speed of the hammer to the application at hand. You can set the 23-lb hammer to anywhere between 950 – 1,900 bpm, while the smaller hammer has a range between 1,100 – 2,650 bpm.
Makita also includes an LED service light on both hammers. When the brushes on the motors begin to wear out, the LED lights up to notify you that you have about 8 hours of service life left before you need to replace them.
Finally, with Makita’s recent emphasis silica dust containment solutions, it should come as no surprise that the new Makita Hammers are compatible with their line of OSHA-approved dust extraction options.
