The Makita GCV07 is the brand’s first 80V wet/dry vacuum/dust extractor. Contrary to its 80V designation, you won’t need to invest in another battery type if you’re already on Makita’s 40V platform. This model actually utilizes a dual-battery 40V design for power, giving it a total nominal voltage of 80V.
This wet/dry vacuum features a brushless motor that delivers up to 173 CFM of suction power and 72.3 inches of water lift. You can choose between three speed settings to set your extraction levels to the task at hand. Using the two 4.0Ah batteries included in the kit, Makita tells us to expect up to 54 minutes of continuous runtime.
Filtration System
HEPA filtration is extremely important on jobsites that have a lot of dust output. To address airborne dust, this model is equipped with a three-stage HEPA filtration system that captures up to 99.97% of particles 0.3 microns and larger. The filter system also has an automatic self-cleaning mechanism that shakes dust from the pre-filter for a longer filter life.

The GCV07 wet dry vacuum weighs 42 pounds with both 40V batteries equipped. This weight is offset by a wheeled design that allows for 360° mobility. Two front caster wheels and two back wheels let you transport the unit wherever you need it on the job. The caster wheels can also be locked to keep the vacuum stable during use.
The hose measures 1 inch in diameter and 11 feet in length. You also get three adapter cuffs (22mm, 24mm, and 28mm) for dust extraction. Makita tells us this unit is also dust- and water-resistant with an IPX4 rating. A locking battery cover adds an extra layer of protection.
Finally, this vacuum takes advantage of Auto-Start Wireless (AWS) technology to automatically power on or off when you connect a compatible tool via Bluetooth.
