Makita 40V Max XGT 7 1/4-Inch Metal Cutting Circular Saw: The Big Deal

Makita 40V Max XGT 7-1/4-Inch Metal Cutting Circular Saw

Many of Makita’s tools, including the 40V Max XGT 7-1/4-inch Metal Cutting Saw, are equipped with Active Feedback-Sensing Technology, or AFT. This technology automatically turns the saw motor off if blade rotation stops suddenly.

The safety features on this saw are also notable. The tool includes an electric brake that ensures you won’t have to worry about the saw blade spinning after you stop cutting. A chip collector also gathers the metal dust before it escapes into the air. Additionally, it has a two-stage lock-off trigger switch, meaning you have to press a button on the handle with your thumb before the trigger can be activated.

Makita claims you can get up to 160 cuts on a full charge with a 40V Max XGT 4.0 Ah battery (based on 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 x 1/2-inch steel angle). It can cut up to 2 5/8 inches deep and runs at 3500 RPM.

The tool’s XGT technology also monitors and protects against overload, over-discharge, and overheating.
