Makita’s GTU01 1/2-inch Mixer Joins the 40V XGT Lineup
Mixers are an essential tool on countless jobsites, enabling tradesmen to mix everything from paint to concrete to mortar. Makita’s 40V lineup is growing with the addition of a 1/2-inch mixer, which is a step up in power from the brand’s 18V models. We’re taking a look at this mixer so you can decide if it’s a good fit for you and your team.
Makita 40V Mixer Performance
- Model: Makita GTU01Z
- Two speed modes
- Top speed of 920 RPM
- Variable speed dial and trigger
- Soft start
- Power source: 40V battery
- Brushless motor
The Makita GTU01 mixer has two speed modes, achieving up to 500 RPM on low and topping out at 920 RPM on high. A variable speed dial and trigger let you adjust your speed and torque to the job at hand.
Like Makita’s 18V model, this 40V mixer features a soft start that suppresses the start-up reaction to provide better control and minimize splashback.
Makita 40V Mixer Design
- Weight: 13.5 pounds
- Dual-handle design
- XPT technology provides dust and water resistance
- Protective cover
- Rubber trigger cover
- Trigger lock button
The GTU01 mixer moves from the rear-handle design of Makita’s 18V model to a dual-handle design that aims to provide better control. It weighs 13.5 pounds including the kitted 4.0Ah battery, so this handle design gives you leverage on both sides to manage that weight.
This mixer includes Makita’s XPT technology which provides dust and water resistance. The battery is also housed under a cover to protect it from splashback. The trigger is similarly protected with a rubber cover.
Additionally, a trigger lock lets you lock on the trigger while you work, reducing fatigue when you’re mixing for long periods.
Makita 40V Mixer Price
This tool retails for $499 as a bare tool and $699 as a kit, which includes a 40V 4.0Ah battery and rapid charger. Makita backs your purchase with a 3-year warranty.
