Makita Brushless Right Angle Drills for Rough-in
The Makita XAD05 and XAD06 18V Brushless Right Angle Drills have the sorts of features and performance that gear them toward electrical, utility, and plumbing Pros. What’s the Big Deal?
The Makita XAD05 and XAD06 18V Right Angle Drills are the first of their kind for the brand. The Makita XAD03 right angle drill runs on two 18V LXT batteries. Though it puts out more power and torque, it also weighs a lot more. Both the XAD05 and XAD06 provide a more compact, yet still powerful, solution for rough-in work.
If you don’t need the absolute maximum power that cordless right angle drills can provide, the Makita XAD05 and XAD06 Brushless Right Angle Drills fill that niche well. They both feature two-speed brushless motors that max out at a no-load speed of 1,400 rpm and enough torque to tackle 1-1/2″ holes with a ship auger bit. With Makita’s 5.0Ah battery, these drills also have the efficiency to drill up to 200 7/8″ holes in 2x SPF on a single charge.
But, the real attraction here is the weight and space reduction. These Makita 18V Right Angle Drills feature a slim barrel design and weigh 7.6 lbs with the battery attached. That’s almost half of what the XAD03 weighs. Plus, where the 36V model measures in at a total length of 21-1/4″, these save some space at 17-1/8″ long.

Price
You can expect the Makita 18V Brushless Right Angle Drills to officially release this fall. As of right now, it looks like Makita only plans to release these drills as bare tools priced around $279. As always, both the Makita XAD05 and XAD06 come with a 3-year warranty.
