The Leatherman Skeletool RX measures 4 inches when closed, 6 inches folded open, and weighs only 5.2 ounces. Compared to some of the more complex multi-tools, it’s also quite slim. The overall width is 1.24 inches, and it’s only 1/2-inch thick, excluding the pocket clip.
The Skeletool RX features a 2.6-inch 154CM stainless steel serrated blade. The blade tip is non-serrated, so it’s great for more delicate work. Due to its location, this blade is very easy to fold out with one hand and locks in place for added security.
Like many others in Leatherman’s lineup, the Skeletool RX has both needle nose and standard pliers. There’s also a wire cutter that easily handles both solid and stranded wires. These wire cutters can double as wire strippers in a pinch.
Similarly to the Gerber Stake Out, the Skeletool RX has a carabiner clip on one end that easily attaches to your belt loop, keychain, or backpack webbing. This allows for easy access when time is of the essence. Additionally, the carabiner doubles as a bottle opener.
One of the most stand-out features of this multi-tool is the interchangeable flat bit driver. Standard options include a 1/4-inch flat head bit, a 3/8-inch flat head bit, a #2 Phillips bit, and a carbide tip glass breaker. For added convenience, the spare bit stows away in the side of the tool when not in use. If you happen to lose or damage a bit, or if you simply want more options, Leatherman does have replacements available.
