Klein Introduces Coated Impact Socket with Two of the Most Used Sizes
Utility servicemen, as well as other trade Pros, know the value of a well-organized and lightweight tool belt. A single socket that covers a couple of common sizes never hurts either; tools and accessories that can multitask can really help our operations stay streamlined. The Klein Coated Impact Socket helps to address these issues with a versatile and lightweight design that’s easy to spot, even in a crowded tool bag.
What Does Klein Have to Say About the Coated Impact Socket?
Klein Tools looked to add innovation to a standard socket during the design process of this tool. In addition to featuring two of the most commonly used sizes in one socket, this socket features a durable blue plastic coating that not only protects it against damage due to scratches and abrasion, but also make it easy to find in a crowded tool bag. All of that paired with the fact that this socket is lighter than traditional sockets means this is a unique tool that every professional can use in their bag.

What’s the Big Deal?
Designed specifically for pole hardware installation and removal, the Klein Coated Impact Socket is a deep socket with a 1/2″ drive. It features a 2-in-1 design that lets you work with two of the most common sizes in one socket: 3/4″ and 9/16″. Its high-torque, 12-point design makes it easier to position over a fastener. It also works with square fasteners.
The blue coating on the Klein 66030 makes this socket easily spottable, even in an overcrowded tool bag. Klein says that this coating also protects the socket from damage caused by abrasions.
Finally, Klein claims that the Coated Impact Socket weighs 20% less than a traditional socket. They compare it to their own 66001, a 2-in-1 socket that also features the same 12-point design that covers the 3/4″ and 9/16″ sizes. Where the more-orthodox socket weighs 0.51 lb, the coated version weighs 0.42 lb. The reduced weight of a socket might seem negligible in terms of how it will reduce worker fatigue, but when used with other lightweight tools and accessories, this weight reduction would have a cumulative effect.
Other Features
