If you thought that Kawasaki 19.2V cordless drill deal last year was too good to be true, perhaps you were right. The U.S. CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) announced a voluntary recall of about 45,000 Kawasaki Cordless Drills (model #691761). These drills were sold at Costco stores nationwide from May 2011 through February 2012. It turns out that the trigger switch on the drill can short and generate excessive heat, posing a burn hazard. Alltrade Tools (the parent company/distributor) received 33 reports of incidents that included one minor burn injury.
Kawasaki 19.2V Cordless Drill Recall
The Kawasaki 19.2V cordless drill recall involves the green and black Kawasaki Cordless Drill (model 691761) that comes with a 19.2V battery pack. “Alltrade Tools LLC” and “Made in China” are printed in white lettering on the left side of the drills. The drill’s model and serial numbers are located on a label on the right side of the drill.
The recalled drills have the following serial numbers:
- From 11030 30201 to 11030 33656
- From 11040 00001 to 11040 17120
- From 11060 00001 to 11060 07340
- From 11070 00001 to 11070 05984
- From 11070 16801 to 11070 20640
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled drills and register at alltrade2.fox-international.com to receive a free drill. Consumers should not return the drills to the store where they purchased it. Alltrade Tools is also directly contacting consumers who purchased (and presumably registered) the recalled drills.
