Honda Recalls Generators Due to Inverter Fire Risk
Honda is working with the Consumer Product Safety Commission to recall some 340,000 generators. In a specific set of environmental conditions, an electrical connection on the inverter could create a short and start a fire.
The biggest risk in areas where salt water is present.
Two of Honda’s smaller generator models are part of the recall: the Honda EB2200i and the EU2200i. If you own one or more of these generators, you can check with your local Honda generator dealer or call 888-888-3139, option 4. Honda recommends you stop using your generator until they can inspect it.
The EU2200i is a 2200-watt inverter/generator that’s part of Honda’s super-quiet line. It comes with a Honda GXR120 engine and is parallel capable.
The EB2200i shares many of the same features. It’s OSHA-compliant with GFCI protection.
Free inspections and repairs are set to begin March 23rd.
