The HexArmor YULEYS Clean Step System is a reusable work boot cover. With an ever-increasing awareness on environmental responsibility and landfill use, this idea definitely grabbed my attention. The concept is fairly simple: make a work boot cover that is durable enough to be washed and reused to avoid throwing away a set of covers every time an indoor worksite has to be accessed. The questions that immediately entered my mind had to do with practicality and affordability. After all, if they are a pain to use or just not cost-effective, no one will bother with them.

HexArmor Yuleys Boot Covers
As far as practicality goes, the HexArmor YULEYS have been designed to be a hands-free, step-in, step-out system. They are said to fit any type of work safety shoe. The boot covers are made from an industrial-grade SEBS rubber that have a non-slip tread molded into them. As far as cost goes, HexArmor gives a compelling example on their website showing potential savings of about $120 over the course of a year considering the $50 price tag and the cost of disposable covers. Ground shipping to my town added $6 to the price. There is a “Request Quote” option on the site, so you might be able to negotiate some better pricing if you are considering ordering multiple sets.
One thing you might want to keep an eye on is the sizing system. It’s not clear if they have attempted to match their sizes (7 – 12) with standard shoe sizes, but they do have a sizing guide that will compare the actual length of your shoe to the corresponding Clean Step size. As of right now, the only color they are offering is blue. However, the drop-down menu requiring you to select a color makes me think that they might include other color options later.
