HART’s One-Handed Reciprocating Saw Shows Off Impressive Cutting Performance
One-handed reciprocating saws are making their way deeper into cordless power tool lineups across the board—and for good reason! Working in tight spaces is already difficult, but when that work includes a saw, the work can be even harder. HART’s One-Handed Reciprocating Saw is one of their latest offerings on the 20V line, and so far, it looks very promising!

HART’s 20V one-handed reciprocating saw brushless motor operates at 3,200 SPM with a 7/8-inch stroke length. This adds up to produce truly competitive real-world cutting speed, even outpacing some of the premium models we’ve tested.
We set up a few different tests here at our shop to get a feel for how this saw will perform under pressure. It quickly chewed through pine 2×4 studs, 3/4-inch EMT, 1-inch PVC, and even #5 rebar. Moreover, HART’s vibration control is operating well above its pay-grade! We would like to see an adjustable shoe on future models, but we don’t really have any complaints from a performance standpoint.

HART’s overall design doesn’t stray too far from the rest of the pack. It weighs in at 3.8 pounds as a bare tool and 4.6 pounds with a 2.0Ah battery, and measures 13-1/4 inches from tip to tail. The actual motor housing is just under 5 inches tall, making it very easy to maneuver in tight spaces. In fact, it’s roughly 43 percent more compact than the full-sized HART Brushless Reciprocating Saw.
The main grip and motor housing are draped in a textured rubber overmold for improved handling and comfort. Its smaller profile allows you to access tight spaces much easier than you could with a full-size saw and reduces overall fatigue.
Looking at the business end, this saw has a pivoting shoe that helps you maintain contact with the materials, especially round materials. The blade release on the side makes for easy blade changes, and the front mounted LED light helps illuminate your work space.

This one-handed reciprocating saw is available a bare tool as well as a kit. The bare tool retails for $119 and the kit is currently priced at $129, but the regular retail price is $228. The kit includes a 4.0Ah battery and charger. HART backs this saw with a 3-year limited warranty.
The Bottom Line
After some hands-on time with the HART 20V One-Handed Reciprocating Saw, we believe it has earned its spot at the table. It’s more than capable when cutting wood, PVC, EMT, and metal pipe, making it an excellent companion for serious DIYers. What it lacks in overall features, it definitely makes up for with low vibration, confident cutting speed, and a compact profile.
