Believe it or not, Best Buy has been around since 1966. I started visiting their stores when I was a teenager. At the time, it was predominantly CDs and DVDs, video games and consoles, televisions, and stereos. Next came kitchen and laundry appliances. But the real surprise came last March when the chain jumped into outdoor power equipment. And Greenworks was the brand they chose to do it. Not so shocking was last week’s announcement. Greenworks will be expanding its presence at Best Buy in three ways: Lawn and garden products offered in stores; more products available at BestBuy.com; and product availability in 65% more locations.
Greenworks Hits More Best Buy Locations
Aside from big box hardware stores, Best Buy is the ideal home for a cordless OPE brand. After all, there’s nary a product in the chain’s inventory that doesn’t run on electricity.
So, the number of Best Buy stores carrying the brand’s products will increase from 216 to 356 stores across the U.S. The move is part of Greenworks’ participation in a new “Store-within-a-Store” experiential concept launching, which portrays merchandise in an interactive format.
You’ll find these Greenworks displays at 225 Best Buy locations.
These 65-square-foot Best Buy set ups comprise a curated assortment of ten outdoor products, including a Greenworks mower, blower, string trimmer, chainsaw, two pressure washers, and various accessories. Furthermore, a large monitor showcases the equipment, as well as categories available online, such as e-transportation and riding lawn mowers.
