Cutting Power
This self-propelled lawn mower features a brushless motor that produces 2,700 RPMs during normal operation, and 3,000 RPMs with the turbo mode engaged. During our testing, this speed and power yielded some pretty amazing results, especially since we’re in the middle of the rainy season here in Central Florida.
I set the deck to position 5, approximately 3 inches, and got to work. During normal operation, this mower confidently powered through the lush Bahia grass and didn’t bog down or stall out once. Kicking it up to turbo made a noticeable improvement to the side discharge throw and increased my overall confidence in this mower’s abilities to handle tough overgrowth. Additionally, the stacked Razor Cut high-lift blades helped produce a clean, even cut with very few stragglers left behind.
4-In-1 Capabilities
This mower is set up for mulching, bagging, side discharge, and Turbo leaf pickup. For mulching and side discharge, set the top-mounted selector switch to ‘Mulching’, this will close the internal mulch plug. For bagging and leaf pickup, set the switch to the ‘Bagging’ position and affix the collection bag to the rear of the mower.
Runtime
Greenworks tells us to expect up to 60 minutes of continuous runtime using the two kitted 4.0Ah batteries. They estimate you should be able to mow around 3/4 of an acre, depending on conditions. This mower has two active battery slots, so there’s no need to stop and switch batteries while you’re mowing.
Keep in mind, ambient mowing conditions always play a role in determining and exact runtime. Based on my experience, I’d recommend this mower for half acre lots simply due to the deck size. If you’re consistently mowing more than that, I’d suggest stepping up to one of their larger models to make life a little easier!

Blade and Drive Controls
Starting at the top, this is the same control system and handle design that the 21-inch model uses, including the Turbo button. The handles slope downward from the center at a comfortable angle, and the foam grip adds to the overall comfort level while mowing. There’s an LED level indicator for the two battery ports that light up when you hit the power button, self-propel bar, or blade bar.
The speed adjustment is front and center. Greenworks made the slider stiff enough that you don’t knock it to a different level if you accidentally touch it or go over a bump, but it’s still well within reach of your thumb.
22-Inch Steel Deck
Just like the Greenworks 21-inch 60V Self-Propelled Razor Cut Lawn Mower, they utilize a stamped steel deck, adding to its overall durability. This does add a little extra weight compared to a poly deck, but since this model is self-propelled, it really isn’t a big deal.
Deck Height Adjustment
Moving around to the deck, you adjust the height with a single-point adjustment lever. With the larger design and heavier weight that comes with it, it would have been understandable to move to a 2- or 4-point system. Instead, the design team kept it simpler for you.
This mower has seven deck height positions ranging from 1-inch up to 4 inches, giving you a ton of versatility based on your grass species.
Vertical Storage
As with most walk behind mowers, the Greenworks Pro 80V self-propelled lawn mower offers vertical storage for when space is limited. It’s a really easy system, too. Just pull the green tabs up to release and swing the handle forward. They’re the same releases you use to switch between the two handle heights. A sturdy handle on the front gives you a simple point to pull it up from.
Additional Features
- LED headlight
- Compatible with all Greenworks 80V batteries
Greenworks 80V 22-Inch Self-Propelled Lawn Mower Price
As of the time we’re writing this, the Greenworks Pro 2548102 lawn mower retails exclusively at Costco for $749.99. It comes with a side discharge chute, collection bag, and an extra high-lift blade. Greenworks backs is with a 4-year tool and battery warranty.
The Bottom Line
Overall, I think Greenworks did a great job designing their 80V 22-inch Self-Propelled Lawn Mower. It’s a good all-around option for weekly mowing no matter what type of lawn you have. Additionally, I love that Greenworks is utilizing their Razor Cut dual blade system and Turbo mode, allowing for a cleaner, more efficient cut. If your yard is in the 1/2 acre range, this mower is a solid choice. However, if you’re frequently pushing toward the top end of Greenworks’ coverage estimates, I’d consider going with one of Greenworks’ larger riding mowers.
